Claimiflo is built for U.S. businesses claiming their own unclaimed property: legally formed business entities such as corporations, LLCs (including single-member LLCs), partnerships, and nonprofits, used by an authorized employee or officer to claim property belonging to that entity, a subsidiary, or a related company they are authorized to represent. Claimiflo is not for individuals claiming personal property, unincorporated sole proprietors, or third-party finders, locators, or recovery agents acting on someone else's behalf. If you are an individual, you can claim your unclaimed property directly from your state's unclaimed property office for free.

Claimiflo supports unlimited name variations, including subsidiaries, DBAs, acquired companies, and former names. Our continuous monitoring searches under all your entity names and alerts you when new property appears under any of them.

You can. Every state UP database is public and free to search. Claimiflo automates the monitoring across the states we cover, matches under every variation of your company names, and tracks each claim through to payment so nothing falls through the cracks. No. Claimiflo is a flat monthly subscription tiered by company size. You keep 100% of every dollar recovered. State checks are made out directly to your company, not to us. We never touch the funds.

Traditional finders charge 10 to 35% of whatever they recover, and many states cap what they can charge (California caps investigator fees at 10% under CCP §1582; Pennsylvania caps at 15%; Illinois adds a $500 licensing fee plus a 10% cap; at least 24 states have caps ranging from 5 to 30%). Claimiflo is a flat monthly subscription. You keep 100% of what you recover, and you file as the direct claimant rather than a third party.

In most states, no. Wisconsin, Idaho, and Indiana all hold escheated property in perpetuity for the owner. This means you are not racing a clock. That said, a small number of states auction tangible property after a set period, and legislation to introduce time bars has been proposed. Filing sooner protects against edge cases and gets the funds back on your balance sheet.

Most claims are straightforward and can be filed directly, without legal counsel. You may want an attorney's input for complex situations (very large amounts, competing claimants, or acquired-entity disputes), but the typical claim is a routine filing your team can handle.

Most customers spend under an hour a month in Claimiflo. Reviewing new matches, approving claims, and uploading a document when a state requests one are the main activities. The platform files, tracks, and follows up automatically, so you are not logging into 50 different state portals. Claimiflo tells you exactly why the state rejected the claim and what to fix. Most rejections are documentation or formatting issues, not substantive denials, and are resolved by re-filing. Your account team helps prepare the second submission at no additional charge, and there is no percentage fee taken out of the eventually-recovered amount.

SOC 2 Type II certification is in progress. Claimiflo can share our current security posture, control framework, and audit progress under NDA on request. We follow the AICPA Trust Services Criteria (security, availability, confidentiality) and align internal controls to SOC 2 requirements while the formal audit is underway.

All customer data is encrypted at rest using AES-256 and in transit using TLS 1.2 or higher. Encryption is on by default, not a configuration option. Database backups are encrypted separately, and per-customer data isolation is enforced at the application layer.

Yes. You can sign in with Google Workspace or Microsoft accounts. Multi-factor authentication is available for password-based accounts using time-based one-time passwords (TOTP).

No. Claimiflo is a recovery tool for unclaimed property that already belongs to your company (checks written to you that were never cashed, vendor overpayments returned, refunds sent to a former address). Recovering your own property does not expose you to a holder-side audit. Holder-side audits investigate whether your company has correctly reported and escheated funds owed to others, which is a completely separate compliance obligation. Contingency audit firms (typically state-contracted) run those audits with 10-to-15-year lookback periods. Claimiflo does not.

It depends on what you recovered. Return of your own capital (a forgotten vendor deposit, an overpayment refund, a legacy escrow balance) is generally not taxable because it is your money coming back. Previously-unreported income (an uncashed employee paycheck, an escheated retirement plan distribution) is taxable when reclaimed. IRS Revenue Ruling 2020-24 requires 1099-R issuance and 10% federal withholding for escheated qualified retirement plan distributions; Revenue Ruling 2018-17 applies parallel treatment to IRAs. Your tax advisor should categorize each recovery. Claimiflo's Document Vault preserves the original property record so your advisor has the source data.
